National Lifeguard (NLS)

 

(Course Length: 40 Hours)
National Lifeguard certification is the industry standard for professional lifeguards in Canada. National Lifeguard training develops a sound understanding of lifeguarding principles, good judgment, and a mature and responsible attitude towards the lifeguard’s role. National Lifeguard training emphasizes prevention and effective rescue response in emergencies, including first aid treatment. They identify hazards and determine safe practices as well as educate the public about the hazards and risks associated with aquatic activities and how to be Water Smart. National Lifeguard training program is designed for lifesavers wishing to obtain a responsible job and leadership experience. Successful candidates of this course will be certified by the Lifesaving Society of Canada.

Prerequisite
15 years of age, Bronze Cross Certification and Standard First Aid with CPR/C (need not be current).

Candidate recognition
National Lifeguard crest and certification card. Valid for 24 months.
